Social welfare law services on the Fylde Coast

The Fylde Coast Advice and Legal Centre exists to provide social welfare and human rights law services for people who are on low incomes, disadvantaged, oppressed or marginalised groups

Our primary catchment area is the Fylde Coast

We operate primarily in Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre and Lancaster/Morecambe

We are an independent organisation operating in the community interest. The centre operates through a Management Committee which is representative of the community.

We are a registered Charitable Incorporated organisation providing a core service of advice, casework and representation without charging you the client for those services. We also undertake social policy work which includes campaigning on issues that affect the community.

Our emphasis is on providing actual representation which very few local organisations provide.

Public legal education

As a centre we also provide public legal education, working with or for target groups to make them aware of their rights, or how they can be helped to improve their lives. We also undertake social policy and law reform activity to combat deprivation, discrimination, as well as social, legal and administrative injustice. We also undertake advocacy on behalf of our clients and campaign for social change in the interests of our clients.

The Fylde Coast is practically a desert area for many social welfare advice and legal services provided by the legal profession for those who cannot afford to pay for them, due to the cuts imposed as a result of the policy of the coalition government and subsequently this present government .

We do however aim to complement existing advice services and support them and believe strongly in collabaration between agencies
